[Grown and Sexy] Regan Taylor

CHAT BOUT is bringing the spotlight on romance/erotic authors! Join us in welcoming REGAN TAYLOR!

From earliest childhood Regan was an avid reader and upon discovering Alexander Dumas and Charles Dickens she was hooked on books that carried the reader away to a different time and place. Preferring the quiet of her room and a good book to spending time with people she traveled far beyond those four walls.

It was while working as a police dispatcher, first for the California Highway Patrol and then her local police department, she began to write fiction, primarily time travels and romantic suspense. In the spring of 2009 she returned to the day job she always liked best, working as a legal secretary. Although, curled up in her bunny slippers with her furfaced children, Mel, Missy and Bogie, while writing is one of her most favorite things to do.

EXCERPT

“I have arrived! Oh yeah, I have totally arrived!” Courtney Miller sang to herself. “This is it, it, itttttttttttttttttttt!”
The contract from publisher Bubbly Bordeaux for her first book in hand, her dreams of being a multi-published author were finally coming true.
Oh sure, for now she had to keep working her day job at Card, Jayson & King. That however was a non-issue because the firm provided a wealth of juicy stories to keep her in writer heaven for years to come. With its political connections and never ending high end insurance defense and fraud cases, just about every day gave her a new story line.
And that was only considering her co-workers. Add in the clients and their tales of how they would never commit the crimes alluded to in some of the cases or lobbying screw-ups, she was looking at books into the next millennium. She’d debated a book about the firm’s latest crime solving excitement with the arrest of a top lobbyist accused of bribing the Supreme Court on behalf of a well-known government official and decided she’d take a wait and see approach on that one. Still, it had everything—sex, money, multiple crimes against the state, enough to make it a series.
Courtney smiled to herself. Oh yes, after Rainy Day Lover was released, her job would keep her in story lines for years to come. And she definitely had the time to write since her company worked ten hour days four days a week. While not the norm, it did allow the firm to be open seven days a week, including holidays. That’s what the clients wanted so that’s what they got.
Now, on the first of her three days off this weekend and committed to her goal, here she sat in her local coffee shop, quadruple non-fat latte in hand, ready to download that first set of edits.
As she waited for her lap top to boot up she glanced around the quaint shop. Even though it was part of one of the big chains the local shop catered to the old-fashioned atmosphere of their city in its design. Booths with high-backed, plushly cushioned seats afforded a semblance of privacy. The tables were sturdy, dark wood, their grain left on the rough side but no risk of splinters. Faux candles lit each table in rustic looking hurricane holders.
Not wanting any one to know about her attempt to write a book, she’d written it in the quiet privacy of her apartment. Now that she was a real author, after all she did have a contract from a fairly well known publisher, it was time to be out there like the big names and writing in public.
A stirring movement near the register caught her attention. From over the top of her computer she spotted a gaggle of women, young, middle aged and even a grandmother, whispering about someone or something. When the crowd parted she got quite the eyeful.
And what an eyeful he was.
About six foot five inches of dark brown haired, blue eyed hunk stood at the register, scanning the room. His chest easily out-distanced those on the male cover models that graced her favorite romance novels. Even Morgan Knight, the model now appearing on the Love Cups books had nothing on this hunk-o-licious guy.
This guy—well—there wasn’t a one who had anything on him. The boy was a major panty splat and lip smacker all rolled into one. Damn, wouldn’t she like to take him home and engage in some major skin to skin research for her next book.
And oh my god, was he staring at her?
Of course he was. She was staring at him. Her gaze probably bore so deep into him he felt under fire. No wonder he looked back at her.
And not just looking back. Oh no, he looked like he intended to eat her for dinner.
Actually, make that breakfast, lunch, dinner and a creamy dessert to boot. Oh he was hot and then some and the look on his face let her know he was looking for a main dish.
Suits me just fine.
He took a step in her direction.
Oh no. He’s just heading for an empty booth or seat or something like that in this direction. Couldn’t possibly be me.
She crossed her legs and the newly born writer part of her mind said she needed to remember the feelings surging through her special girl parts so she could capture those sensations in her next book.
And wouldn’t he make a great hero?
There’s no time like the present. She brought up a clean page and began to type when only a moment later a shadow passed over her screen.
“Would you mind if I sat here?”
Courtney looked up into the most amazing shade of blue-green eyes she’d ever seen. They were an interesting mix of turquoise and azure blue and the honey brown of his hair, long and thick, caressed his oh so broad shoulders, stopping below the blades. His t-shirt in pretty much the same shade as his eyes caressed his chest in a way Courtney wouldn’t mind spreading herself against him.
Unable to help herself she glanced at his waist, taking note of the button down fly on his snug fitting jeans. Her pussy clenched. My oh my.
“What?” She’s licked her lower lip before realizing she was about to mentally devour this man who only wanted to…what did he say?
“A seat. All the others are taken. Do you mind if I sit here? I promise not to bother you.”
Bother her? She was already well beyond hot and bothered. Well, not exactly bothered but he had her hot and all he’d done was walk into the coffee shop and say maybe ten words to her. She’d roast in hell for the lascivious thoughts she was having about this poor man who probably had women undressing him, at least in their minds, on a regular basis.
And what was she thinking?  She was a legal secretary. A professional! They defended people who’d been arrested. Misguided bozos who behaved in some of the naughty ways she’d like to be doing with this gorgeous male specimen. For starters, chaining him to a wall in her bedroom with just enough room to move into the next sexual position.
Oh yeah, he was definitely material for her next book, which wasn’t going to be anything near the sweet romance Bubbling Bordeaux contracted with her. Oh no, that one was going to be a major erotica where the guy looked exactly like Mr. Tall-dark-and-Delicious and the heroine looked like her. Well why not star in her own romance novel? It wasn’t like some of those luscious things would happen in real life. So why not in—
“Sorry.” His voice made her tingle from her ears right down to that sweet damp spot…
“Didn’t mean to take you away from your…”
“Oh sorry, no. Please. Feel free to tie me up…I mean, you aren’t tying…that is, please sit.” If she turned half as red as the flames in her face felt, Mr. Come-into-my pants and stay awhile probably thought she was either a total idiot, hadn’t had any in awhile, or he’d just met up with his worst nightmare.
“And here I thought if there was any woman who would want to tie me up, it would be you.” His voice was pure honey and sent delicious tremors down her spine and into that suddenly needy sweet spot between her legs.
Mr. Hunk-o-licious asked again, “Are you sure I’m not bothering you? I just want to sit and enjoy my coffee and all the other seats are taken. I promise not to disturb you.”
Oh man, his voice was definitely the stuff of dreams—wet and wild dreams. The kind where a girl needed her battery buddy when she woke up alone type dreams. “Please, disturb away, I mean. Why don’t I just shut up?”
“Because what you have to say sounds so delightful.”
“Delightful? I just made a royal ass of myself.”
He shook his head, his long auburn hair flowing around his shoulders like liquid chocolate.
Man did she want to run her fingers through it, take a hold and bring his lips in for a kiss…what on earth was she thinking? Courtney Miller, legal secretary extraordinaire, did not have thoughts like this. She shrugged, maybe Desiree Desire, her alter ego and soon to be hot erotic romance writer did. That would make sense.
Of course, that made total sense! These were her alter ego’s thoughts. Some of the authors in the local romance writing group talked about that. How their alter egos, their pen names, could take on lives of their own. So there was good girl Courtney who worked for Card, Jayson & King and then there was naughty Des who engaged is some amazing sex with hunky guys who just wanted to drink their coffee.
“No, you aren’t making an ass of yourself. I think more like I disturbed you from whatever you’re working on. For that I apologize. I didn’t think before I approached you. Well, I did think,” he purred, “from your friendly smile while I was at the register that you wouldn’t mind if I joined you. Just to drink my coffee and for you to continue with whatever you were doing.”
“Wow, a guy who knows how to fill in a pair or jeans and say just the right thing and I so didn’t say anything about how you fill in your jeans.” She put her head in her hand and wished there was a way she could slide under the table and after a quick stop between Mr. Amazing Jeans’ legs for a snack—oh gees, she didn’t just think that either.
“If it makes you feel better, I’ll not only pretend I didn’t hear you say that as well as pretend I didn’t think you fill out your sweater just as nicely.”
Anyone in their right mind would have taken offense, or tried to, or thought about it. The way he said it though, it sounded like the greatest compliment a man could give a women.
“Water under the bridge. Please, have a seat and enjoy your coffee before it gets cold. They’ll give you a refill, in case you’re new in here, I mean. I mean that if you’re new in town and you haven’t been in here before you wouldn’t know that they’ll give you a refill. Not that they only do it when you’re new.”
“That’s good to know.” In one fluid motion he slid into the seat and took a long swallow of his coffee.
Courtney swallowed the same moment he did. For someone who didn’t believe in love at first site, she was falling awful fast for this guy.
Okay, lust at first site.

World Music - Donnie Klang

Who knew there was a MAKING THE BAND 4? Neither did I but this guy, Donnie Klang won it.  Born Donald Joseph Klang in 1989, he wont MAKING THE BAND 4 and was signed to Bad Boy Records by Diddy himself. This blue eyed beauty is a singer, songwriter, producer and model.

His first album Just a Rolling Stone dropped in 2008 peaking on the Billboard 200 at 19.  But everything apparently wasn't perfect for the Green eyed beauty for he soon split with Bad Boy Records to sign with  a lesser known label, Eight72 Entertainment. He released an album that didn't go anywhere. Still not satisfied, Klang started his own label, Donnie Klang Entertainment and released his single Falling 4 U  in 2011.

Yes, In Their House!

The end of the 2012 World Series has to be the most silent in baseball history. Comerica Park was in a wave of shocked silence as the San Francisco Giants threw their gloves in the air and jumped into each other's arms in celebration. Tigers' fans sat in their seats, staring in disbelief at the field, their players standing or sitting in the dugout looking dejected and almost broken.

The San Francisco Giants became the 2012 World Series Champions last night. How did that happen?

They swept the Detroit Tigers in a whopping four games to zip show of perfection; That's how.

The Giants were fighting for their lives after repeatedly coming back from the brink of elimination more times than anyone care to count during this one post season. They knew better than anyone else, going into these final few games of October play that they were the underdogs, that they were the ones most, except the Black and Orange Crew of San Francisco, has given up on them. It was all about the Tigers going into the final games.

It seems unreal the Detroit Tigers would fall apart the way they did as they swept the Yankess in the same fashion to get into the World Series and they were coming off three days of rest. The Giants came together as a team with great pitching, on point defence and well placed hits.

At one point, the Tigers showed some glimmer of home as their bats seemed to be coming alive with a Miguel Cabrera two run homer over the right field wall. That didn't last long as the Giant's Buster Posey answered with a home run of his own in the sixth to put the Giants up 3-2. The Tigers responded with Delmon Young who tied them up once more.

Extra innings.

Going into the tenth the winds were picking up, the rain left a icy-chill over Comerica Park. Still, the Giants battled on. Ryan Theriot led off the 10th with a single against the Tiger's Phil Coke. This was followed by an unselfish sac fly by Brandon Crawford to advance Theriot and a mega, shallow single by the NLCS MVP Marco Scutaro to score Theriot.  This to some showcased the best of baseball, the best of a team of guys playing smart baseball to push each other to the euphoria of a championship win.

Sergei Romo was pristine in keeping the Giants' 4-3 lead and was quite effective in shutting the door on the dying Tigers by striking out Miguel Cabrera and doing the Gangam Style.

Psy-sation to the World!

It seems funny to me the rest of the world is just catching on to how talented the rest of the world is. I've been an avid listening/consumer of South Korean Pop along with Japanese and Chinese pop for a few years now and I have to say I am very excited the rest of the world is catching on. There are so many talented bands and solo acts that go un-noticed by the western world. Bands like Big Bang and MBLAQ as well as UKiss and Block B. Solo acts like Jang Woo Hyuk, Rain and Junsu.  There are plenty of amazing talent in the world. If you listen to Scandal by Kang Ta and Vaness you can dance to the beat and the attitude even though you can't understand the lyrics. Listening to La La La by Se7en (Yes that is how he spells it) your heart will break by the sadness in the voice though it is not in English.  Then when not performing there are tons of videos on youtube with these bands and singers just being themselves and having some fun for their fans be it practical jokes on each other or  rehearsal videos.

Lately, a new sensation has taken the world by storm or rather Psy-sation! Park Jae-sang aka PSY has brought the horse-trot hotness that is the Gangnum Style to our side of the planet. Born in 1977, Gangnam District, Seoul, South Korea this South Koran rapper, dancer and producer took over the internet when his song "Gangnum Style" went major viral. Psy is signed with YG Entertainment that has the likes of BIG BANG, 2NE1, Hip Hop powerhose EPIK HIGH, Se7en, Matsa Wu and Tablo, which means he's in great company.  Psy is all over the place now-from the Ellen DeGenerous show to Saturday Night Live, Psy is making his worldly rounds with his super fun, super energetic personality and dance moves.  But what seems to be his most important job or title so far goodwill ambassador of the United Nations Children's Fund (UNICEF).

For more information on Psy and other South Korean musical talents, visit the YG Family. Who knows, you may descover the talents of Taebim or Bom.

Safety First

Over the end of the summer of 2012, sexual assaults seem to have escalated. It wasn't that the problem wasn't there before, but during that short stretch between when the short shorts went away and the long pants and jackets made an appearance, down-town sexual assault was on the news constantly. Though there is no such things perfection, there are ways to protect yourself and those you love.

This blog post is not to freak you out needlessly, but this is a way to take a few extra precaution so you can remain safe or as safe as possible.

The first is education. You have to get in the habit of paying attention to the news. Visit the OPP's website from time to time and keep yourself in the know about what is happening in and around you.

Technology has become an unwitting accomplice in most attacks because we walk around with her headphones on, and our eyes glued to the screen of her ipad/phones/ipods and hoods up, we are not paying attention to what is happening around us.   We have to be a little more aware of our surroundings when travelling.

Safety in numbers is often times the way to go. If you go out with a bunch of people, don't wander off by yourself. Smoke breaks are a perfect time for people to wander off to dark, secluded areas but this is never a good idea. If you have no one to take a smoke break with ensure you're taking this break in a well lit area where you are within screaming distance of everyone else. If you go outside the door and you cannot see the bouncer at the club, chances are he can't see you so if anything happens help will not be close by.  Another thing, if you go out with a bunch of people, don't leave alone and don't leave with a stranger.

When you go out we are often tempted to leave our drinks and food under the watchful eyes of a friend. Though they often times mean well, try to avoid doing this. A friend could be taken in by the lovely hottie across the room, take their eyes off your food/drink for a second and that's enough time to have something slip into your food/drink. If you leave your food/drink try not to go back to it.

Trust your gut. If something seem shady to you, chances are it is. Be careful out there. Be safe.

World Music - Frank Ocan

Born Christopher Breaux; October 28, 1987,in New Orleans, Louisiana, Frank Ocean has made waves lately with an open letter to his fans about his sexuality. But that is not what is propelling this uber talented lyricist and rapper along.  Even before this big splash or before his hit NOVOCAINE took over the airwaves, Frank has penned hits for the likes of Brandy, Justin Bieber, and John Legend.

His first mixtape, Nostalgia, Ultra dropped in 2011 to critical acclaim. His second album Channel Orange had equal excitement. His nominations include a 2011 BET Award for Best Mix Tape (Nostalgia, Ultra) and Rookie of the Year, 2011 Soul Train Award for Best New Artist, 2011 Grammy for International Album of the Year for Nostalgia, Ultra. In 2011 He won the GQ Rookie of the Year. He's currently nominated for the 2012 A Q Award in the Q's Next Big Thing Category and a MOBO (Music of Black Origins) award for best international act.

WE DAY 2012

BE THE CHANGE 2012

Jacob from HEDLEY at WE DAY Toronto 2012
For years, Free the Children has been making a difference worldwide! They've built schools, trained villagers, helped create a new source of income for the less fortunate, dug wells, planted fields--you name it they've done it. They've empowered a generation or two in the most positive of ways that they can change the future if they just try. They teach the young ones that you don't need millions of dollars to make a difference but one small, thing, something you may see as insignificant can change someone's life and thus a step toward changing the world.

In April 2012, I earned my ticket to WE DAY 2012.  I said "earned" because you cannot buy a ticket for this amazing event. This is the day Free The Children and its sponsors come together and they celebrate young people doing good deeds. They have musical acts, special guests and so much more amazing things. For WE DAY Toronto, September 28, 2012 - they had Al Gore (An Inconvenient Truth, Former USA VP), Romeo Dallaird (humanitarian, former military), Martin Sheen (Charlie Sheen's Father), The Honourable Justice Sinclair, Spencer West (has no legs but he climbed Mt. Killamanjaro!) and so many more! Musical guests included Nelly Furtado, Shawn Desman, Hedley, K'Naan, Lil Jake....

Martin Sheen at WE DAY Toronto - 2012
Martin Sheen was the biggest surprise of the day. He was articulate and intelligent speaking from his generation's point of view. He spoke of how proud he was that the attendees of WE DAY were doing better than his generation. That they were taking the time out to help each other rather than tearing each other down. He apologised for his generation and the lack of a legacyc that they're leaving--Well the lack of a positive legacy. He said he was sorry the younger generation has to fix their screw ups.  I was taken aback by that since no other adult has gone as far as to say they were sorry. Surely this generation didn't ruin the Ozone layer all by ourselves. He was funny and just brought the crowd to its feet when he was finished.  There is just something about him that impressive.

Al Gore spoke about climate change but he was no less significant in the grand scheme of things. It goes along with the saying that you don't have to help another person to make a difference sometimes--plant a tree, pick up some trash, recycle...every little bit helps.

This year the message at WE DAY is BE THE CHANGE. What does that mean? They explained it as this - Do not just wish the world was different. Do not sit and wait for others to make the world better. Get up, go out there and BE better.
